We enjoyed a great turnout on a beautiful summer’s morning for our 40th Blessing of the Grapes on Friday, August 19. More than 130 guests and employees enjoyed a glass of Grgich Hills’ Chardonnay, selected to match the just-picked Chardonnay grapes from our Carneros Vineyard, in this age-old celebration of the start of the harvest.
Following the blessing, guests enjoyed a reception on the patio and they were able to stomp grapes. The Blessing of the Grapes always marks the first day of daily grape stomping is available at the winery. For the first time since the winery began in 1977, Miljenko “Mike” Grgich was unable to join the crowd but his daughter, Violet Grgich, told the crowd that he promises to make next year’s Blessing.
